Innovator of the Game – In 1880’s John W. Heisman, for whom this great trophy is named, grew up in rural PA playing a combination of soccer/rugby. A college player and coach, his greatest contribution to the game – the forward pass – which only was legalized for play in 1906 after years of lobbying the rules committee.
Back- to-Back Winners – 1936 and 1937 saw the Heisman Memorial Trophy going to players from Yale University, making it the first time a school had back-to-back winners. The only other schools to match this feat are Army and Ohio State. Early 1960’s – Ernie Davis of Syracuse was the first African-American to be awarded the Heisman in 1961. Shortly after his win he was diagnosed with leukemia and never played another game. Consecutive Wins – In 1974 and 1975 Archie Griffin of Ohio State University became the first player to win the Heisman Trophy back-to-back. Today, we at Mënaji congratulate Johnny Manziel on his historic win; maybe Johnny Football will join the ranks of Archie Griffin in time. For now, we hope that all guys who play this sport will always be on top of their game and looking their best on and off the field with, yes you guessed it, Mënaji Skincare!
