Razor burn can range from a few hours of temporary irritation to several days of dealing with infected blisters and pimples. Your shaving technique is probably not the problem, but there are a few things you can do to avoid the burn.
Wash your face with warm water before you shave. This will soften your skin, making it more amenable to a blade. Use new, sharp razors so that your skin and whiskers aren’t pulled as the blade runs over your face. Apply a lubricant such as a shave gel or soap, and shave with the grain of your beard in short strokes.
Afterwards, rub in an aloe-based cortisone cream or an aftershave such as the Power Hydrator, infused with vitamin E and aloe to soothe your skin and reduce redness. It works much better than regular moisturizers.
